Sport and politics have always been intrinsically linked, and journalist and political adviser Angela Pippos is an expert in both.
After a long career as one of Australia’s most popular sports journalists, Angela encouraged her good friend and fellow journalist Zoe Daniel to run as an independent in the 2022 federal election. Angela played a vital role in Zoe’s historic win and is now Chief Political Adviser to the Goldstein MP.
During her ABC and freelance journalism career, Angela wrote award-winning book Breaking the Mould – Taking a Hammer to Sexism in Sport and made documentaries on women in AFL and cricket.
Angela will be in conversation with author, historian, and broadcaster Professor Clare Wright. Professor of History and Professor of Public Engagement at La Trobe University, Clare has published several best-selling and prize-winning books including The Forgotten Rebels of Eureka and You Daughters of Freedom.
Clare has worked as a political speechwriter, historical consultant, a broadcaster in radio and television, and has been published in newspapers and journals including The Age, The Guardian, The Conversation, and Crikey. She is the writer and host of the ABC Radio National history series and podcast Shooting the Past. She can be found at BSO throughout the footy season cheering on the Roys and her son Noah.
