Thanks to your support of us and our fellow sporting clubs in Yarra, the item to vote on significant proposed fee increases for ground and pavilion use has been withdrawn from the City of Yarra Council meeting Agenda for tonight's meeting!
It has been the people in our community, our volunteers, our members and residents of the area who have raised their voices, sent messages and shared media and news stories to get the attention of the public.
It has also been our incredible playing group, led by our wonderful captains Julian Turner and Cass Blake, who have also sent messages, rallied support and put their names down to speak and represent the Roys in the meeting before the item was scrapped. As a Club, we're so proud of this leadership from our players.
Twenty-nine people were registered to speak to Item 8.3, with representation from seven different sporting clubs across our community, all coming together to support each other.
We're also grateful to those in media that used their platforms to tell this story and support us and our fellow sporting clubs.
Having this item removed from the agenda, so close to the meeting, is a huge result and testament to the power of our sporting community.
We look forward to a community sporting club consultation process on the new policy and hope we have the opportunity to make a real contribution to what will eventually be delivered to Council for adoption. We hope it can be a truly collaborative process with agreement reached with our Council on a proposal that serves our community.
Thanks to everyone who spoke on our behalf, supported us and our fellow community sport clubs, and continues to believe in the power of community sport.
Go Roys!
